Newtown Man Accused of Doing Electrical Work with Fake License

A 43 year old Newtown man is facing multiple charges after police say he performed electrical work using a fraudulent license. Steven Platt was arrested in May following a state investigation that revealed alleged offenses in Newtown and nearby towns between 2021 and 2024. He’s charged with forgery, impersonation, working without a license, and identity theft. Police say Platt used another man’s credentials to pull permits and sign documents. The case is tied to complaints forwarded by the state Department of Consumer Protection.
