Newtown Woman Faces Charges After Standoff with Police

26 year old Newtown woman is now facing multiple charges after a police standoff on Park Lane Tuesday. Samantha Rivera is accused of assaulting a public safety officer, risking injury to a child, trespassing, larceny and resisting arrest. Police say she barricaded herself in a home during a DCF investigation and fled on foot after several hours. Rivera was arrested after a brief chase and treated for a cut before being taken into custody and then held on $500,000 bail. One officer suffered a minor injury.
