Putnam County Issues Overnight Travel Ban As Blizzard Intensifies

Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne ordered a temporary overnight travel ban as blizzard conditions worsened last night across the county. The ban took effect at 9 p.m. Sunday, covering all county, town, and village roads, and is in effect until changed or lifted. Officials say the move is meant to protect public safety and keep roads clear for plow crews, emergency responders, and utility workers as heavy snow, strong winds, and near-zero visibility moves in. Only essential travel is allowed, including emergency services, healthcare workers, utilities, snow removal crews, essential government operations, and media.
