New Milford’s $2.5 million Route 7 safety upgrade is 75% complete and expected to wrap up by mid-November. The project includes 2,300 feet of new sidewalks, three new bus shelters, crosswalks, and a pedestrian bridge. Funded mostly by federal transportation money, the improvements aim to address long-standing safety concerns following multiple fatal crashes along the busy stretch between Candlewood Lake Road South and Larson Road. Officials say the upgrades reflect a larger push to make the Route 7 corridor safer for pedestrians, drivers, and transit users.
