United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut is expanding its Seedlings to Sprouts farm-to-school program in Danbury and New Milford. Backed by a state grant, the program adds eight more on-site gardens at early child care sites and replaces produce vouchers with bi-weekly food boxes of Connecticut-grown fruits and vegetables. It also brings nutrition coaching and cooking classes to families and providers. The goal: teach kids healthy habits early and boost access to fresh, local food.
