Danbury will get a new ShopRite in the Nutmeg Square shopping plaza, taking over the former Stop & Shop at 72 Newtown Road. The Cingari family plans to invest more than $20 million in renovations, including a new entryway and upgraded delivery access. City officials say the move will bring jobs and boost the commercial corridor, one of the busiest on Danbury’s east side. Plans are set for review by the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
