A state Department of Transportation study has identified Interstate 84 eastbound Exit 16 in Southbury as one of Connecticut’s riskiest highway off ramps. The design places on and off ramps close together, creating confusion and increasing wrong way entries. DOT officials say lighting, layout and nearby traffic all contribute, and safety improvements are being prioritized.
