A Delaware animal shelter has become the nation’s most unexpected poultry farm after more than 12,000 chicks were left in a US Postal Service truck for three days. The First State Animal Center is now feeding, housing and rehoming thousands of chirping, pooping, and peeping survivors. The shelter says some people wanted to adopt them for dinner, but it’s a no-kill shelter, not a drive-thru. Officials are still sorting out who’s to blame.
