West Nile Virus Detected Early in Connecticut Mosquitoes

Connecticut officials say mosquitoes trapped here in Connecticut have tested positive for West Nile virus, marking one of the earliest detections in decades. The sample was collected June 11, according to the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. Experts say recent rain and heat may boost mosquito activity and virus spread. To help protect yourself, use repellents and limit your time outdoors at dusk and dawn. Nearly 110 traps across 88 towns are being monitored as the season continues.
