A 43 year old man from Yonkers drowned Sunday in the Housatonic (Who-za-tonic) River in New Milford. Police say Simon Hernandez went into deep water in an area known for dangerous undercurrents and never resurfaced. His body was recovered after a multi-agency search lasting several hours. Police say Hernandez was at the river with family for a picnic when the incident happened.
