Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of New York City Tuesday, defeating former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. The 34-year-old progressive Democrat will be the city’s first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian heritage, and the youngest in over a century.
