Putnam Sales Tax Cuts Now In Effect

In Putnam County, New York a new sales tax exemption on clothing and footwear under $110 went into effect on March 1st. It means that now it may be cheaper to shop for clothes and shoes in Putnam County than it will be to shop for the same items in Danbury. The two-year sales tax exemption is expected to equate to a $3 million per year tax cut. During this period, Putnam County will evaluate the exact fiscal impact to the county and will have the option to renew the tax cut in 2026.
