Southbury police are investigating an incident that took place at Newtown Savings Bank on Main Street South on Wednesday, August 14th. They say a man tried to cash a fraudulent check. Police also say that while the suspect got away before officers arrived, they have now identified him. While no arrest has yet been made, police say the investigation is ongoing. The check in question was tied to an Oxford-based construction company. Anyone with information is urged to contact Southbury police, who also say that all tips will be kept confidential.
