Hunting Seasons Now Underway

Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection notes that the 2024 fall archery hunting season for deer opened yesterday, September 15, on private land, with state land and turkey hunting starting today. The deer season on private land runs through December 31, with extended dates in Zones 11 and 12 until January 31, 2025. Hunters are required to wear fluorescent orange during most hunting activities, and DEEP advises all visitors to state lands to do the same. DEEP also cautions hunters to protect themselves from mosquito bites, as West Nile virus and EEE have been detected.
