United Illuminating Asks For $14 Million Rate Increase

United Illuminating customers could see an electric rate increase here in Connecticut in the coming new year. United Illuminating is seeking a $14 million rate increase from state utility regulators… after a $130 Million increase over a three year period was rejected earlier this year. If it happens, it would translate into an approximate $3.80 monthly increase in the bill for an average residential customer using 700 kilowatt hours of electricity per month. That works out to a 1.8% monthly increase. The utility would like to see the increase take effect February 1st.
