Proposed Constitutional Amendments

In a contentious session, the Democratic-led Government Administration & Elections Committee approved two proposed amendments to the Connecticut Constitution. These amendments touch on several sensitive issues: environmental protection, gender rights, and reproductive care. But the path to voter approval is steep. The amendments require an unlikely three-quarters majority in both the House and Senate. If they pass this year and again during the next legislative term, voters will decide their fate in the November 2026 statewide election.
