Danbury Residents Want Chickens, New Fairfield Residents Want Goats

As Danbury continues to debate chickens as pets, New Fairfield’s Zoning Commission has approved a new regulation allowing residents to raise goats on certain residential properties. The amendment, following a public hearing, permits one goat per 2-acre lot, with a maximum of four goats. Goats must be kept in properly fenced areas, with paddocks located behind the primary dwelling. The regulation includes guidelines for fencing, shelter, and manure management, aimed at ensuring compliance with state regulations.
