Metro Mattress Shuttering More CT Locations

Metro Mattress is closing several Connecticut stores as the company faces eviction lawsuits and struggles with a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. The retailer, which owes more than $23 million in debts, including nearly $2 million to Tempur-Pedic, has shut down locations in towns including Avon, Westport, and in Danbury. Metro Mattress expanded into New England but later cited high costs and poor market performance before filing bankruptcy. The company still operates a few stores, including one in North Haven, as it attempts to restructure.
