Danbury Officers Get Hands On Training

Danbury police are testing new virtual reality technology for officer training. The Axon Roadshow visited the city on Wednesday, offering demonstrations on tools like updated Tasers, body cameras, and VR-based simulations. Officers practiced de-escalation and live-fire Taser training using virtual scenarios. Mayor Roberto Alves and city officials also participated, trying the VR training firsthand. Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour praised the technology for enhancing training and public safety, while also noting the ongoing challenge of managing costs for new tech. The department by the way, has been fully equipped with body cameras since 2021.
